PRE-PLANNING - MOOD BOARD

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

This moodboard is a collection of images that represent the tone and theme our group is aiming for with our opening. This collage shows many photos which correspond to the concept of our opening. It shows the visual look we are going for as well as some examples of general location, costuming and shot ideas.

The mood board includes many gloomy carpark photos and beat down broken cars that resonates with the dark and industrial action feel we are going for. Along with photos that indicate the theme of guns, danger and kidnapping. These photos hint towards the plot of our opening and how it begins with a kidnapping and a fight scene with a gun. There are also two specific images we have chosen that have a character looking through a rear view mirror which is a significant shot we are wanting to include in our film.

This mood board follows a somber and murky aesthetic with cold and dark colours to represent the thriller genre. We've included a photo from Kill Bill because we want to take inspiration from the female protagonist and Tarantinos iconic action vibe.

This moodboard was assembled by Olivia Yi.

COLOUR PALETTE:

Similar to the moodboard, the colour palette reflects the visual tone we are aiming for. It consists of two shades of dark grey to represent the obscurity and ambiguity of the opening as well as being darkness having negative connotations and representing evil. In contrast to the grey, there is white which represents the idea of good and innocence. The colours used are both vibrant and vivid and the warm red and orange complement the dark blue pleasingly. Although different all these colours flow together nicely and create an ambience of disparity and uncertainty.
