Through our planning stage we each came up with multiple ideas to be used as the opening to a thriller film. Below are some of our ideas.
Two characters mentally prepares themselves to do something bad (eg killing someone, robbery, abducting someone). The pair could enter a private place near the location in which the crime would take place (like a public bathroom) in which they prepare themselves to do the deed. The opening would involve physical conflict between the two characters, who question their morals, and instances of inner conflict. The scene would end with them reluctantly deciding to do it, exit the bathroom, and the Title appears with black background (style of the 'Detroit' movie trailer title.
A man jumps off a pier, leaving a suitcase behind. Another man walks to the end of the pier to collect the money in the briefcase before the cops arrive, overcoming his fear of water.
A boy talks to his mother over the phone, paranoid that his neighbours are COVID-19 positive.
A boy finds out he is living with a doppelgänger.
Innocent looking man is walking down the street. He gets kidnapped and shoved into the boot of the 'villains' car. When the boot opens for the bad guys to get him out, he fights back and kills them in some way to show audience that he is the villain of the film.
When a person turns 16 they wake up with a number of days left to live on their wrist. Suddenly it drops and the main protagonist goes psycho trying to figure out how they die.
COVID-19 turns people into zombies. The main character is one of those who hasn't been turned yet.
We ended up choosing the main idea of the man who gets kidnapped but turns out to be the villain, but added elements from other ideas. We included the idea of two men mentally preparing themselves to commit a crime, and the location set by the ocean.
